NaPoWriMo #11
Write a poem that begins with a letter of something you have in your house.
An ode to my new reading tool
Something that I did not intend
Yet having one does break a rule
My Kindle is my newest friend
Unfaithful to my paperbacks
Electronic doesn’t feel penned
Gone is my heavy toting sacks
My Kindle is my newest friend
Can’t seem to give up books in hand
Even so I still recommend
You try them both don’t take a stand
My Kindle is my newest friend
This form is called Kyrielle, a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains. Each line consists of only eight syllables. Popular rhyming is aabB,ccbB,ddbB or aabB,ccbB,ddbB, with B being the repeated.

Excellent! I have not tried Kyrielle but will give it a shot. I like what you have done with this but I have to admit I still can't quite list Kindle on my list of best buds...hard to put down that book with real pages. As you said:

You make a Persuasive argument. Thanks and thanks for the introduction into Kyrielle...
I have to agree- i haven't heard of Kyielle, so thanks so much for blogging about it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for becoming a new follower of my blog, and I'm following back! I'm glad you did, as now I have found you and Kyrielle :) Beautiful blog too, i really like it! I love the pretty font!
Must admit I LOVE my KINDLE! LOVE IT!
BUT!
Only for novels- not very good for any kind of non-fiction book, (esp ones on writing that i love to scribble in and fold the pages down on) or scripts, poems, plays or learning languages. For novels it's perfect!
Awesome! Makes me want to buy a kindle.
ReplyDeletenice. have not made the switch yet but i am warming to it...i just love the feel and smell of a book in my hands...
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get a kindle for a long time. I now have the kindle app on my phone and computer so maybe that will have to do for the time being.
ReplyDeletei'm often slow to come around to new things, but i can see the appeal. fun read :)
ReplyDeleteI'm new to a Kirielle too. The name is pretty, makes me want to put on a tutu and dance. I've no tutu tho. But I still feel like dancing.
ReplyDeleteAnd have no Kindle. I read only blogs these days. :)
I love my Kindle too! I identify with your poem.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I have a Kindle & loved it but now that I also have the Kindle app on my iPhone I read more on there I must confess. I have it with me always so it comes in handy as I wait for an appt, elevator, bus, food, those places I don't normally have my Kindle with me.
ReplyDeleteStop in and give K is for Karma a read:-)
I am a book-lover too, but your poem kindles me to embrace its touch soon :P
ReplyDeletespeak stress and unstressed and I am lost lol
