Sleeping is the ultimate activity!

This form is called a Zedd Poem. Zedd poems form the letter “Z”. The first line states a truth about the title. Followed by single word couplets. The last line states what the title is not.

I'm VERY excited to announce that with this post I will have reached my goal of "100" posts for April! Now if I can just get the last new follower I need to break 100. I've been sitting at 99 all week long.

Y is for Yoda - Youthful

Yearning, no longer you are!

Yellow-bellied, attitude you have!

Yo-Yo, stable you are not!

Yammer, you always do!

This form is called a Yoda Poem. Yoda poem begins with a title word and predicts the future. Couplets using inverted speech like Yoda used.

X is for Xenia Epigram - Thankfulness

My simple words of thanks

Are often very quiet

They may come across as pranks

That sometimes spark a riot

Yet if I really focus

Keep the sarcasm felt at bay

Without the crazy hocus pocus

I’ll just apologize for the delay

 This form is called a Xenia Epigram. The form represents a thank you of sorts and ends with an apology.

W is for Wrapped Refrain - My Journey from A-Z

Complexity this journey held

For a challenge I felt compelled

Taking the easy way to me

A cop out that would surely be

While I often experienced perplexity

The chosen forms gave my blogging complexity

Astonishment abounded here

Often stymied by real fear

Kept on trudging diligently

In time became confidently

This journey found me writing with abandonment

My confidence growing strong with astonishment.

This form is called a Wrapped Refrain Poem. 2 or more stanzas

Meter: 8,8,8,8,12,12   Rhyming: aabbcc

In each stanza the first 4-syllable word in the first line

must be the last 4-syllable word in the last line.

V is for Villanelle - Guiding Light of Love

Your love has become my guiding light

The past took its toll each day

I think of you and all seems right

My adoration grew strong at first sight

Who would think it could be this way

Your love has become my guiding light

The past left me scarred with an ugly blight

To ease the pain that now comes my way

I think of you and all seems right

Filled with angst I’ve learned what might

Become of me if I give control away

Your love has become my guiding light

Anxiety had kept me up at night

Who knew peace would come someday

When my life’s adrift and feels uptight

This form is called a Villanelle Poem. It is a 19 line poem,

Very specific rhyming pattern of aba aba aba aba aba abaa

The first and third stanza a repeated in alternating order.

This form is called a Tyburn Poem.

A six line poem of 2, 2, 2, 2, 9, 9.

The first four lines are rhyming and descriptive words.

The last two lines rhyme and incorporate lines 1 – 4 as the 5th-8th syllables.

This form is called a Quinzaine Poem.

Written in 3 lines. Line 1 is 7 syllables.

Line 2 is 5 syllables and is the beginning of a question.

Line 3 is 3 syllables and is the end of the question.

This form is called a Pensee Poem. A modern form with syllable count 2-4-7-8-7 but further line 1 is the subject, line 2 gives description, line 3 action, line 4 the setting, line 5 a final thought.

O is for Ottava Rima - Opinion on Easter

It is true that Easter means so many things

If you will indulge I would like to share

It is much more then eggs the bunny brings

To me it is important that there is prayer

Remember Resurrection on angel wings

This form is called a Ottava Rima Poem.

Written in 8-line octives. Each line is of 10 or 11 syllables.
Rhyming sequence is abababcc.

N is for Nonet - Spring Is Coming

Gusting winds in front of the rainstorm

Leaves and flowers on the pear tree

Crocus blossoms popping out

The Seedlings taking root

Sprinkles coming down

Dogs sunbathing

Birds in Trees

Sunshine

Spring

This form is called a Nonet. A Nonet has nine lines.

The first line has nine syllables and each line decreases to one syllable.

A Monkey and His Muffin

From Branch To Branch They Sway

This form is called a Mirrored Refrain and is rhyming poetry written in quatrains.

Within the quatrain are the “mirrored refrain”. The rhyming scheme is xaBA,xbAB,xaBa,xbAB.

x does not rhyme within the poem. A and B represent the refrain.

K is for Kyrielle Verse and Kindle (A-Z Challenge and NaPoWriMo #13)

An ode to my new reading tool

Something that I did not intend

Yet having one does break a rule

My Kindle is my newest friend

Unfaithful to my paperbacks

Electronic doesn’t feel penned

Gone is my heavy toting sacks

This form is called Kyrielle, a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains. Each line consists of only eight syllables.  Popular rhyming is aabB,ccbB,ddbB or aabB,ccbB,ddbB, with B being the repeated.
