Balloon Launching

The day dawned bright on this fine spring day. The air was crisp and invigorating. Off in the distance was the reason for gathering – Balloon Launching. After years of annually attending this event I’m still amazed that these delicate objects don’t combust. As the balloons were filled the dust nearby was stirred. Soon the glamorous colorful objects inflated completely and set about to launch. The seams on each one stretch taunt, almost as though they will burst. The ecstatic occupants of the baskets lean over the edge waving. On the ground we stand and bounce around excited to be part of this day.
